Sending Letters Abroad Print   Back >>

The simplest way to send an item up to 2 kg (4.4 lbs) to an address abroad is to send it as a letter.

The letter can be sent either via air or surface mail.

Surface mail is less expensive than air mail; air mail is faster.

Optional services:
1. Registered Mail: The sender receives a confirmation receipt that the the letter was sent and the addressee must sign when taking delivery.
2. Express Mail (Special Delivery): This service speeds up delivery. After the letter has reached the destination country it is delivered by messenger to the addressee.
3. Confirmation of Delivery: The addressee signs a card upon taking delivery of the letter and the card is returned to the sender via air mail.

Under certain conditions the sender can request that the letter be returned.

Note: If the contents of the letter are subject to customs inspection, the sender must note the contents on a special green label available at the post office. The label must be attached to the outside of the envelope.
